What swimming taught me

While swimming, our body has the tendency to sink a bit, causing it difficult to breathe. It is important to stroke repeatedly to move the body forward, and the strokes should be rhythmic, whether fast or slow, and such rhythm is connected to our breath. Losing rhythm means causing confusion to our breath, and the whole movement is in chaos.

It is nothing new, but it dawns upon me that a company as a going concern is very much like a body in swimming. Once you jumped into water, you need to make movement correctly and with rhythm in order to stay afloat. If you stop, you drown. A company that is slowing down as our current state is going to have very tough job to accelerate and maintain a good body position.

Bồ Đào Nha là nước theo TCG thuần thành khi đó, và việc chịu tai ương trên trời rơi xuống quả thật là một điều khó có thể giải thích đối với họ nếu chỉ dựa trên kinh thánh và những gì nhà thờ rao giảng. Sau thảm họa, nhà thờ cố giải thích rằng đấng quyền năng đã trừng phạt con người vì tội lỗi. Cách giải thích cà chớn này đã phải bị dẹp bỏ, và người ta còn chỉ ra rằng khu Alfama, là khu vực ăn chơi đàng điếm của Lisbon thời đó, đã chỉ bị chút thiệt hại nhỏ so với toàn bộ khu vực xung quanh.

Finish: River out of Eden

Yesterday, I finished reading River out of Eden. It is easier to read than God Delusion or Selfish Gene. Is it because I have been preparing myself by reading the hard stuffs before?

Some interesting ideas from the book:

- if you and your spouse do not share a common ancestor, that means you and your spouse belong to different family trees whose have different root but somehow evolved similarly so that the current generation can copulate and give birth to a child. Impossible.
